Recruiters’ Tree-Planting Scheme Takes Root
Expanding global software and fintech executive recruitment consultancy Oakstone International has launched a partnership with a non-profit organisation dedicated to planting trees around the world.
The Poole-based firm has linked with One Tree Planted which has planted more than 40 million trees in 47 countries in North America, Latin America, Africa, Asia, Europe and the Pacific since its inception in 2014.
Oakstone’s partnership sees them pledging to plant 10 trees via One Tree Planted, based in Vermont, USA, for every placement made, which is done through donations.
The consultancy has donated enough for 450 trees to be planted since July 2022 and expects the total to hit around 1,750 in the next year.
Oakstone International founder and Chief Executive Officer Paul Rayner said: “There is always more we can do to be accountable and committed to contributing to the well-being of communities and society through various environment and social measures.
“Partnering with One Tree Planted, a non-profit organisation focused on global reforestation, allows Oakstone to contribute directly to restoring and helping some of the world’s most vulnerable areas.
“One Tree Planted makes it easy for individuals and business to give back to the environment to create a healthier climate, protect diversity and help reforestation efforts. They provide measurable impacts so you can see exactly how your donations are being used and where.”
Reforestation is one of the most important ways of fighting climate change by removing carbon dioxide from the air, storing carbon in the trees and soil, and releasing oxygen into the atmosphere.
One Tree Planted founder and Chief Environmental Evangelist Matt Hill said: “We’re excited to work with Oakstone International on such an impactful project. We admire their commitment to protecting our environment. It’s a great example of how recruitment firms can make positive change for the planet.”
One Tree Planted’s mission is to make it simple for anyone to help the environment by planting trees. Their projects span the globe and are done in partnership with local communities and knowledgeable experts to create an impact for nature, people, and wildlife.
Reforestation helps to rebuild forests after fires and floods, provide jobs for social impact, and restore biodiversity. Many projects have overlapping objectives, creating a combination of benefits that contribute to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
